Ural Federal University, named after the first President of Russia, B. N. Yeltsin, was founded in 1920 in Yekaterinburg, a modern megapolis with world-class infrastructure and services for education, business, and tourism. Currently, UrFU is Russia’s official federal innovation platform. It serves as the region’s and the nation’s education and scientific center. The university is based on the tenets of accessible education, high standards for individuals, and ongoing science promotion.

According to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Ural Federal University is ranked 11th among Russian universities, and 43rd in the QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia. It is also ranked 58th among BRICS countries universities by QS World University Rankings in 2019. UrFU electronic archive is ranked 1st in Russia and has been included into the top-400 of Webometrics Open Archives’ Ranking of World Universities.

The University institutes offer more than 460 Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs in natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, economics and management taught in Russian and English.

During almost 100 years of the university’s history, it has produced more than 2,500 specialists from about 100 countries of Europe, Asia and Africa. The University has the highest employment rate in Russia. 85% of UrFU graduates find a job in Russia or abroad within the first six months post graduating.

The university has more than 500 collaboration agreements with international partners. It also has student exchange programs with more than 150 universities from 40 countries. The university’s main partners for student mobility remain universities of China, India, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Hungary, France, and Turkey. The University conducts joint scientific research with world’s top-notch experts as UrFU visiting professors.

The scientific infrastructure of the university includes 72 key centers of excellence and 164 research laboratories with the most modern equipment, including 12 international laboratories used by scientists from world-leading universities, which pursue breakthrough studies.

The university campus is designed to meet every attendee’s requirements. It has 14 educational buildings, 16 dormitories, 19 sports facilities and 438 multimedia classrooms.

The university also offers a wide range of aid to deserving students. In line with their academic performance, meritorious foreign students are awarded scholarships. For instance, first-year students of engineering, technology, and natural sciences programs with high exam scores get a monthly scholarship of 10000 Rubles.
