Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) MAI, founded in 1930, is one of the leading high-tech institutes in Russia. In October 2009, it was ranked among the top 12 universities of the Russian Federation and went top 1907 in the world 2023 rankings. Since its inception, it has been spearheading advances in aerospace technology both within Russia and globally.

MAI is also a large scientific research center. The students from over 80 countries come here to study aviation, missile and space industries in Russia.

More than 120 laboratories, 3 student design offices, 3 specialized resource centers, an experimental-design factory, and an aerodrome are available for the students. Besides, each student has the opportunity to go to the shore of the Black Sea in a health education center “Alushta”. Regular scientific and technical conferences are held here. MAI students and workers participate in such conferences together with the representatives of other universities.
