National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) is a reputed technical university, founded in 1942.
In 2022, QS World University rankings rated the university 308th in the world, World University Rankings by Times Higher Education ranked MEPhI 401th in the world, and in 2023 U.S. News & World Report rated the university 483th in the world.
Today, MEPhI is one of the leading research universities of Russia, training engineers and scientists in more than 200 fields.
MEPhI generates scientific knowledge, disseminates and preserves it aiming to address global challenges of the XXI century; as well as, to provide innovative transformations in Russia accompanying development of country’s competitiveness in global energy and non-energy high-tech markets.
Everything in MEPhI is based on the principles of openness, internationalism, and innovation. Since 2014, the university has been implementing the standards of the CDIO initiative to modernize engineering education in higher education. The standards aim to improve the quality of the next generation of engineering graduates and are also used by world-leading universities such as Stanford University, California State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A graduate who has studied under an accredited program and has the required professional experience can obtain the rank (international certificate) of Euroengineer. NRNU MEPhI graduates are in demand in Russia and abroad.
Every foreign student has the opportunity to live in the MEPhI dormitory. It is situated within 15 minutes’ walk from the University. In total, MEPhI dormitory includes 6 buildings. There are many cafes, gyms, supermarkets, pharmacy outlets, the medical center and hospital in close proximity to the campus. A room accommodates 2 or 3 students depending on the size of the room. Each room is equipped with everything needed for comfortable living.
