The Northern State Medical University is located in Arkhangelsk, founded in the year 1936. It is the center of the Medical education in Northern Russia. NSMU is authorized by World Health Organization (WHO), ECFMG (USA), and Medical Council of India (MCI). The students are eligible for MCI, USMLE (USA) or PLAB (UK) exams after completing their studies from NSMU.

The following main exchange programs are available to you at SJMU:

• Bilateral exchange program with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tromsø, Norway.
• Bilateral exchange program with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Krakow, Poland.
• Clinical and research internships in 92 countries for students, clinical interns and residents. IFMSA program.
• Clinical and research internship for students of the Faculty of Dentistry. IADS Program.

Applicants can choose one or another program based on their professional and academic interests, the foreign language studied (English, German, French, etc.), according to the requirements of each program for a particular target audience (students, interns and residents, graduate students and professors).

Student life

Northern State Medical University has three hostels. One accommodation can be shared by 3-5 people. There are two kitchens on the each. In the canteen there are Indian, Malaysian, Chinese and Arabic cuisine.

There are different sports centers and fitness clubs. You can play tennis, volleyball, football, ice hockey, skiing, bicycle, aerobics. It is the best place for a refreshing jogging along the banks of North Dvina River.
