Orenburg State Medical University was founded in 1944. Every year, about 200 medical specialists graduate from OrSMU.

Today, Orenburg State Medical University is a modern educational institution with its own clinic, where professors and lecturers of the university hold consultations. There are also several research centers with high-tech equipment. Students train on mannequins that imitate situations from real medical practice. There are several such centers at OrSMU, where students are trained in different areas: dentistry, pediatrics, pharmacy, ambulance service, and obstetrics.

In 2018, Forbes magazine published a ranking of the best Russian universities, which evaluated 600 educational institutions. Orenburg State Medical University made it into the top 100, and among medical universities it ranked 4th. OrSMU students undergo practical training at the university clinic.

Student life

There are three hostels in Orenburg State Medical University.In the third hostel Indian students are living. These hostels give a very comfortable atmosphere.There is a sports club in the University which was opened in 2013.

The aim of the University is to organize and improve the sports work for students. In the club there are 12 sports leagues such as; swimming, aerobics, basketball, volleyball, track-and-field athletics, lifting, skiing, chess, etc.
